The Conflict series of works are Dickins'
response to the atrocities of ethnic cleansing carried out in Kosovo and
Bosnia. The brutal murder of families, men, women and children; the futility
of war; the detailed and vivid images on daily television news footage.
The narrative in broadsheet reporting and access to the Internet all provided
the catalyst for artistic expression.
The Blackdowns series of works are Dickins'
interpretation of abstract relationships, reflecting the beauty and tranquility
of his spiritual home. Influenced by the diversity of the natural forms,
woodland and fungi found in the Blackdown Hills A.O.N.B. A humanist approach
concerned with human worth, individuality, humanity, spirituality and
freedom for the individual to develop their potential.
